# Recognition + Liveness

Faceplugin ID Document SDK — Recognition + Liveness. Document Reader with OCR and optional document authenticity (same engine / license flags).

**Document Reader** products: passport / ID OCR **and** document authenticity (document liveness) in one engine when the license allows. Port **8082** on server.

Public READMEs list OCR, MRZ, barcode, quality, crops, and authenticity / security checks. APIs include `recognize` / `documentProcess` and `documentLiveness` (authenticity-only call on the same SDK).

* **Capabilities:** [ID Document SDK capabilities](/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/capabilities.md)
* **Security fields:** [Document security check fields](/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/document-security-check-fields.md)
* **Mobile:** [Mobile SDK](/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/recognition-and-liveness/mobile-sdk.md)
* **Server:** [Server SDK](/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/recognition-and-liveness/server-sdk.md) — Linux `faceplugin/document-reader`, Windows, Node

Prefer authenticity **without** OCR? Use dedicated [Liveness](/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/id-document-liveness-sdk.md) on port **8086**. For production eKYC, prefer Document Reader (this mode) over splitting OCR and Document Liveness unless you need an authenticity-only service — see [Deploy and host](/integration/deploy-and-host/architecture.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://doc.faceplugin.com/products/id-document-recognition-sdk/recognition-and-liveness.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
