# Palm Recognition SDK

Faceplugin open-source Palm Recognition SDK. On-premise RGB-camera palm matching with Python Anaconda. ROI extraction and compare\_two\_images. Not a Faceplugin commercial face SDK.

### Overview

**Faceplugin Palm Recognition SDK** is a **free, on-premise** Python sample for palm matching from a standard **RGB camera**. It is **not** the commercial [Face Recognition SDK](/products/face-recognition-sdk.md) and it is **not** a document or liveness product.

All processing stays on your machine.

### Features

* [x] Palm Detection
* [x] ROI (region of interest) extraction
* [x] Template Extraction
* [x] Template Matching
* [x] On-premise (your machine only)

### Platforms

The public sample is the [open-source Palm Recognition repository](/products/palm-recognition-sdk/open-source-palm-recognition-sdk.md) (Anaconda / Python on Windows in the README).

### FAQ

**Does this replace Face Recognition?** No. Use [Face Recognition](/products/face-recognition-sdk.md) for faces.

**Is there a Docker HTTP API?** Not in this sample. Commercial face/document server SDKs are Docker Hub images under each product’s Server SDK.

### Use cases

* **Access control demo** — extract palm ROI and match templates in Python on your machine
* **Attendance prototype** — compare two palm images with `compare_two_images`
* **R\&D** — evaluate palm matching before choosing a commercial face product

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://doc.faceplugin.com/products/palm-recognition-sdk.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
